Ad hoc diary entries May 4th 2021 - Returning

Since February 2005 I have journeyed the Far East (16 years this year), and now the cosmos is telling me that it is time that I return home, back to my roots, a return of the native so to speak.

The thing about life is, that it will lead you in directions you have not expected to go. It gives and it takes back, and we have to accept that. We have to stay in the NOW and, like bamboo, sway with whatever cosmic winds blow over us. To mix metaphors, we are leaves in the stream, tossed and pulled by invisible currents.

There are loves and losses, happy and sad times wherever you are. Some will last longer than others.

I have trials and tribulations ahead. There are distances to traverse, vaccinations and Covid 19 certificates to get. There are flights to book, then an apartment to rent, furniture to furnish it with, cool weather clothes to purchase. Later, a bicycle to get, rail and bus passes to obtain, library cards (local and university) to renew.

It is a fresh adventure, tasks worthy of Hercules and a voyage worthy of Urien.

I am reminded of Byron.......

So, we'll go no more a roving

So, we'll go no more a roving
   So late into the night,
Though the heart be still as loving,
And the moon be still as bright.

For the sword outwears its sheath,
And the soul wears out the breast,
And the heart must pause to breathe,
   And love itself have rest.

Though the night was made for loving,
And the day returns too soon,
Yet we'll go no more a roving
By the light of the moon.
