95 days here
"I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars did wander darkling in the eternal space, rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth swung blind and blackening in the moonless air…"
(Lord Byron, 1816)
It is said that 'where there's a will there's a way' but, honestly, without electricity there's 'F' all.
I have purposely got up early this morning to work on The Blue Lotus magazine. As per usual I go to the toilet for my morning ablutions, flush, and then all goes dark. First I think that it's the fluorescent tube light which as been threatening to stop, but then my air con is off as well as etc etc etc. Oh how wonderful! A big thank you Siem Reap and your third world electricity.
Isn't it lucky that I have internet on my SIM card, otherwise…..hold on, if this continues I'll have no battery left on my phone, Oh calamity!
7am
One hour later and the electric is back on. Oh joy! I wonder, is it the rain which is causing these blackouts, for as the rains increase so do the electricity cuts. Too much sitting around on this wooden garden chair has given me a back ache. I was watching Michael Portillo corrupt Malaysian history in his series of railway travels through the country, on YouTube. I really cannot believe that there was no mention of Admiral Zheng He at all, when Portillo was visited Malacca. The story of Penang was wrong too. Ipoh's story missed out the Chinese gang wars and it was never mentioned that Taiping was once the capital of Perak, either.
Now I need to rest.
12.32pm
I managed to do three hours of The Blue Lotus magazine, working on the contents page and tinkering here and there. There is still a lot to do before I can publish this issue.

4pm
Just as I am all psyched up to continue editing the magazine, there is someone using the computer. I fear that this issue of The Blue Lotus magazine will be further delayed as I have less access to the communal iMac than before. It is extremely difficult to create the magazine under these conditions. I feel like screaming.
I also cannot prepare for tomorrow's class, as I need access to that iMac to do
it. I now also discover that the WiFi internet is sporadic too.
I really cannot live like this. Give me my life back, please. Today has been too much, I feel almost broken by it.
And yet I seem to have no choice but to endure all this bloody nonsense which has been handed to me. Bend like the bamboo in the storm it is said. Someone give me the strength to get through the next couple of months without exploding, Oh pretty, pretty please. I'd take to drink, but I can't afford it. Ha bloody ha.
