Poem....Amongst the Chinese (2013)

Creatures
both dog
and lion
but neither
dance
amidst
clanging of gongs
drums
firecrackers
red
incense
small children with ear mufflers
and
smiles

Ang pao
packets
slim
sleek
give goodwill
beer and oranges
are
pissed
or regurgitated
bringing luck

New horse year
Ma
spring cleaning
Yee Sang
relatives
small child repeating alphabet
drawing faces
Pai Nian visting
more midnight firecrackers
midday firecrackers
lunch firecrackers
breakfast firecrackers
driving demons
and my hearing
away
for prosperity
or posterity.

Be glad for
figure hugging
cheongsams
long
black
hair
slim waisted
pert nippled
acquaintances
their
radiance
Buddha nature
and
their
constancy
in

love.
